Using the app with no signal
Trip recording and catch logging work with no signal, and the phone uploads them when you are back in range. Do not sign out offshore, or you lose the trips and catches that have not uploaded.
More detail
The map offshore. Offline map packs are in development and not available today.
When you are back in range. Open the app once you have signal: the upload runs each time you bring the app to the front. A trip also uploads as it records and when it ends. If an upload is cut off, it picks up where it stopped the next time.
The limits and the exceptions. If trips or catches are still waiting, the iPhone asks "Sign out without uploading?" before it signs you out. Choose Stay Signed In. If your session lapses while you are out of range, nothing is deleted. After more than a day without a connection, a "Data may be outdated" pill may appear; it clears when you are back in signal.
When it goes wrong. If a trip or a catch from offshore is not in the Logbook on the website after the app has been open with a good signal, stay signed in and write to support@ripiq.com. We reply usually inside a day.
