Your Logbook: trips and catches
The Logbook keeps every trip you record and every fish you log. Tap the Logbook button on the map, then Trips or Catches; each catch belongs to the trip it was caught on. You record trips on the iPhone app, and you can see, replay and edit them on the website.
More detail
Where it is. On the iPhone the Logbook button is in the bar along the bottom of the map; on an iPad the Logbook opens as a panel down the side. On the website the Logbook button is in the bar along the map, and it opens and closes the Logbook. Every plan records, saves and replays trips and logs catches.
Trips. The list runs newest first, grouped by year and month once there are enough trips. Each trip shows its date, its name, how long it lasted and how many fish you logged on it; the website also shows the distance. If you never named a trip, the list shows it by its date, for example "Aug 11 Trip". Older trips load as you scroll, back three years. Search looks at a trip's name and its date.
Replaying a trip. Tap a trip to put it on the map: your track and the fish you caught on it. The track is yellow at trolling speeds and red when you were running. While a trip is on the map, the controls, such as the time bar, turn orange. With Pro, the time bar covers the trip's days and the seven days before it, with the ocean data for each moment, and a boat marker moves along the track as you move the time bar. On the iPhone, the close button at the top of the Logbook ends the replay and closes it.
Recording a trip. The Trip recording panel at the top of the Logbook has two modes. Auto starts a trip by itself once you are offshore and stops it after you are back near shore. Auto needs Location set to Always and Precise Location turned on in the iPhone's Settings. Manual has Start trip and Stop trip buttons and records wherever you are. To switch on Auto recording, go to Preferences, then Trip Tracking, and turn on "Auto-record trips". A trip records with no signal and uploads when you are back in range.
Catches. The list holds every fish you logged, with a date range (7D, 30D, YTD, All or Custom), species and type filters, and totals. While a trip is recording, you can log a fish with Quick Catch from the button on the map, the Lock Screen or the Bite Intel widget. It saves your phone's position and the time you tap. You add the details later, such as size, fate, bait, tag number and crew. If you log a catch with no trip running, the app makes a trip for that day. On the website, "+ Log a catch" adds one, and clicking a catch pins it on the map and moves the time bar to its date.
Renaming and deleting. On the iPhone, tap "…" on a trip: its page shows the name, start, end, distance, peak speed, type (Fishing, Reposition or Unclassified) and species, with "View on map" and "Delete trip". On the website, the pencil renames a trip and the "…" menu changes its type or deletes it. If you delete a trip that has catches, the app asks whether to delete them too or keep them. Catches you keep stay in Catches under their own date.
History on the time bar. "History" on the time bar means past ocean data, not your trips.
