Safety, limits and contacting us

Bite Intel is fishing information, not a chart, so do not use it for navigation. It carries no weather, wave or sea-state information. For anything a person should handle, email support@ripiq.com; somebody here answers, usually inside a day.

More detail

Getting there and back. Use marine charts, your GPS and depth sounder, and official marine forecasts. Do not use the depth and seafloor layers to judge whether your keel will clear. The depth lines, the waypoints and the basemap have no soundings, hazards or aids to navigation. Do not use them to avoid obstructions. A position read off the map is not a surveyed fix, and a measured distance is not a route. Do not use it to plan a passage.

Your trip records. A recorded trip is a fishing log, not a certified voyage record. Do not rely on it for legal or safety purposes. A trip replay is not evidence of exactly where the boat was.

What it tells you about fish. Bite Intel does not promise fish. Nothing in it observes a fish. The species maps rate how much today's water resembles water where that species has been caught, and the ocean layers show conditions. Conditions that suit a species are not the same as fish being there, or biting.

In an emergency. Call the Coast Guard on VHF channel 16, or your local emergency number.

When to write to a person. For questions about money and security of your account, please email support@ripiq.com.
