Trip track line

The line showing where you went on a recorded trip. It appears in the Logbook, live while you record and finished when you open a past trip, never on the main map by itself. A finished trip is colored by speed: yellow at 10 knots and under (trolling), red above (running).

Live — updates while a trip records

More detail

How to see it. Tap the Logbook button on the bar along the bottom of the map, on the iPhone app or the website, open Trips and choose a trip. The map moves to that trip and draws its line.

Reading the colors. While a trip is still recording the line stays a single color; the two colors appear once you open the finished trip.

What to look for. The yellow stretches show where you actually fished, and the catch marks along them show where it paid. Drag the time slider to bring the boat icon to any point of the line and see what time you were there.

Gaps in the recording. Where your phone had no GPS position for a while, the line runs straight from the last position it recorded to the next one.

How it relates to the other trip marks. Trip catch pins are the marks for the fish you logged along the line, and the Trip boat marker is the boat icon that shows where you were at the time the slider points to. All three appear together when a trip is open.

Limits. The track works anywhere you go, including outside the water the ocean layers cover. It is stored in your own account and shown only to you. It is RipIQ's own record of the positions your phone saved.
