6. ADVERTISING AND ANALYTICS

We use cookies when you use our Website. A cookie is a small text file that our Website saves onto your computer or device when you use the Website that allows the Website to remember your actions and preferences and recognize you or your browser. Web beacons or pixel tags are small graphics on a webpage that monitor your activity when viewing a webpage (together with cookies, “Cookies”). We may use Cookies on our Website and Mobile App to support core functionality, improve performance, and analyze how users interact with the Services. Cookies allow us to recognize your browser or device, remember your preferences, understand usage patterns, and personalize your experience.

Most browsers automatically accept cookies. You can disable this function by changing your browser settings but disabling cookies may impact your use and enjoyment of the Website. You cannot disable all Cookies, such as Cookies that are essential to the functioning of the Website. You can manually delete persistent Cookies, or Cookies that track your activity across websites, through your browser settings. To change your preferences with respect to certain online ads and to obtain more information about third-party ad networks and online behavioral advertising, visit the National Advertising Initiative Consumer opt-out page or the Digital Advertising Alliance Self-Regulatory Program. Changing your settings with individual browsers or ad networks will not necessarily carry over to other browsers or ad networks. As a result, depending on the opt-outs you request, you may still see our ads.

We use Cookies for several purposes, including:

  • Operational purposes, such as enabling page navigation, maintaining sessions, and ensuring the Services function properly.

  • Performance and analytics, including measuring traffic, understanding how users engage with the Services, identifying which features are most frequently used, and diagnosing technical issues.

  • Personalization, such as remembering your settings, preferences, and previously viewed content.

  • Marketing and advertising, including delivering relevant content, measuring the effectiveness of campaigns, and understanding how users arrive at our Website.

We may use both first‑party and third‑party analytics tools to help us understand usage trends and improve the Services. These third parties may collect information such as your IP address, device identifiers, browser type, pages viewed, time spent on pages, and interactions with our content.

Anonymous visit count. When you visit our Website, we add the visit to an anonymous daily tally that records only the date, the page on which you arrived, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. We do not record your IP address, device or browser information, or any identifier with that tally, and it cannot be used to identify you. To avoid counting the same visit more than once, our Website stores a single value in your browser’s session storage. That value contains no identifier, cannot be read by other websites, and is deleted when you close the browser tab. The tally is kept on our own servers and is not shared with any third party.

Website analytics. We use Umami, an open-source analytics tool that we run on our own servers, to understand how visitors use our Website. It does not use cookies and does not store anything in your browser. When you view a page, it records the page address and title, the address of the website that referred you, any campaign tags in the link you followed, your browser, operating system, device type, screen size and language, and actions such as starting a sign-up or a checkout. It uses your IP address at that moment to estimate your approximate location (country, region and city) and to calculate a coded visitor identifier, and it does not store your IP address. That identifier is calculated with a secret key held only by us and changes every calendar month, so visits within one month can be counted as one visitor, but visits cannot be linked from one month to the next. Before anything is sent, your browser removes every part of the page address after the “?” except campaign tags, so values such as password-reset links or email addresses are never recorded. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, Umami does not record your visit. This information is kept on our own servers and is not shared with or sold to any third party.

7. GEOLOCATION DATA

We use precise geolocation information, including the real-time geographic location of your device, to deliver and enhance the location-based components of our fishing intelligence services. We will collect geolocation data only if you enable us to. You may disable location services at any time through your device settings (iOS Location Services or Android app permissions), or by turning off trip recording in the mobile app’s Preferences. However, disabling location services may limit your ability to use features that rely on geolocation.

If you allow us to access your geolocation information on your device, we may use this information to facilitate the Services including without limitation:

  • To center and orient maps

  • To record trips — While a trip is underway, we record your position about every 30 seconds. This information is stored on our servers and tied to your account, so you can review your trips.

  • To enable catch reports — The coordinates you attach to a catch, raised fish, or other reports are stored with that report.

We do not sell any geolocation data and only disclose geolocation data to our service providers, as necessary to provide our products and services.

8. YOUR CONSUMER PRIVACY CHOICES

  • Updating your Personal Information. If your Personal Information changes, or if you no longer desire our Services, you may correct, update, amend, or delete/remove your Personal Information by emailing privacy@ripiq.com. • Delete Your Account. If you no longer wish to use the Services, you may delete your account in the Mobile App or by emailing privacy@ripiq.com from your account email address. If you are located outside of the United States, please be aware that information we collect, including Personal Information, will be transferred to, processed, stored and used in the United States. In addition, such data may be stored on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction and in jurisdictions which may have less stringent privacy practices than your own.

13. CALIFORNIA’S SHINE THE LIGHT ACT

California’s “Shine the Light” law (California Civil Code § 1798.83) permits California residents to request certain information regarding our disclosure of Personal Information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. Specifically, California residents may request (a) a list of the categories of Personal Information disclosed to third parties for their direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year, and (b) the names and addresses of the third parties that received such information. You may submit a request by emailing us at privacy@ripiq.com. Please include your name, mailing address, and a statement that your request is made under “Shine the Light.” We will respond to properly submitted requests in accordance with applicable law.

14. CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Our Services are not intended for or directed to individuals under 18 years of age, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it promptly.

15. DATA RETENTION

16. DATA SECURITY

We take the protection of your information seriously and take reasonable and appropriate physical, administrative, and technical measures to protect the information collected through our Services.
