  • 3.Fish behavior is influenced by countless variables beyond what satellite data can capture.

Data Timing & Latency

RipIQ does not run its own ocean models. We ingest forecast data from HYCOM (physics) and Copernicus Marine (biogeochemistry).

  • •Forecast data typically runs 24 hours behind real-time
  • •During weekends and holidays, data may be 48-72 hours delayed
  • •These delays are due to HYCOM and Copernicus Marine processing schedules, not RipIQ
  • •We update our forecasts daily as soon as new data becomes available from upstream providers

Ocean Conditions Change Rapidly

  • Currents, eddies, and temperature fronts can shift significantly in short periods
  • Always verify conditions with real-time observations when possible
  • Local reports and on-the-water conditions take precedence over app data

Not a Navigation or Safety Tool

DO NOT rely on RipIQ Bite Intel for:

  • Marine navigation decisions
  • Safety planning for offshore trips
  • Weather or sea state assessment
  • Route planning in hazardous conditions

Weather and Sea Conditions

RipIQ Bite Intel does NOT provide weather, wave, or sea state information.

Before any offshore trip, you MUST consult official marine weather forecasts from sources such as:
